After making its first appearance in 2016, AERO McGill will compete in the 2017 edition of the Unmanned Systems Canada student competition. The objective is to provide an autonomous unmanned aerial system (fixed-wing or multi-rotor) for a real life application. The competition’s scenario is changed annually. However, the vehicle must have a gross weight of less than 10kg (22lbs) and be capable of autonomously completing a variety of ground-oriented tasks such as terrain mapping, target analysis and object retrieval.
